The network is the foundation

Before any control system, the network has to cover the property reliably. On a Greenwich estate, that means wired backhaul to every access point, not mesh. It means access points sized and placed for the actual room dimensions, not the floor plan area. It means outdoor coverage that extends to the pool house, the gate, the carriage house, and the guest cottage if there is one.

We deploy Ubiquiti UniFi and Ruckus depending on scale and management model. UniFi works exceptionally well on most Greenwich homes. Lighting on Greenwich estates

Lighting on these homes is almost always Lutron HomeWorks QSX. Wired control for the fixtures the architect chose, wireless retrofit for any zones added during renovation, and Ketra circadian fixtures where the owner wants natural-light tuning in the primary spaces. Crestron handles the lighting as well and we use it that way often, especially where one ecosystem across the whole property is the priority. The protocols (0-10V, DALI, DMX) work the same on either platform. The choice is about which control surface the owner already uses or wants to use.

Outdoor coverage

The outdoor envelope on a Greenwich estate is usually larger than the indoor footprint. Distributed audio for the terraces and the pool deck, landscape lighting integrated into the control system, outdoor cameras tied to the network, gate intercom integrated to the in-house touchpanels. What to ask before signing

Three questions to ask any integrator quoting on a Greenwich property. First: where is the network rack going and how many access points are in the design. Second: who is the programmer and what is the response time for a programming change after move-in. Third: what does the documentation handoff look like at the end of the project.
