Hidden Technology: Architectural AV in Refined Interiors
The best technology in a luxury interior is the technology you cannot see.
About This Course
The best technology in a luxury interior is the technology you cannot see. This course introduces interior designers to the category of architectural AV. in-wall and in-ceiling speakers, disappearing displays, recessed keypads, and invisible control surfaces. that allows technology to serve the space rather than compete with it. Attendees leave with a vocabulary for specifying architectural AV and a workflow for coordinating with the technology integrator during the interior design phase.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this course, attendees will be able to:
- Identify the primary categories of architectural AV products. in-ceiling speakers, on-wall art-frame displays, recessed control surfaces. and explain where each is appropriate in a refined interior.
- Coordinate with the technology integrator at the material selection phase to confirm that specified finishes, trim profiles, and millwork are compatible with architectural AV product requirements.
- Specify blocking, rough-in, and finish-surface requirements for recessed speakers, hidden displays, and flush-mount control devices.
- Evaluate product cut sheets for architectural AV devices to assess finish quality, trim options, and surface preparation requirements.
60-Minute Outline
A television that arrives on-site after millwork is built and exceeds the cavity dimensions by 1.5 inches is a problem with no good solution. A control keypad specified in a wrong gang configuration requires a new rough-in box and wall repair. These conflicts are prevented when the designer and integrator are sharing drawings. not just talking about the project.
