The trade gets better when peers learn from each other.
Most of what we know about pulling a clean rack, sequencing prewall, getting invisible speakers to cure right, and not blowing a CEU presentation came from other integrators who took the time to walk us through it. We try to pay that forward. Every document on this site is something we wish we had earlier in our careers, written down, given away, and updated as we learn more.
Restrepo does not compete with peer integrators in NJ, NY, and CT -- our service area is fixed, demand exceeds capacity, and we pass on more work than we take. The market does not get smaller when another shop runs cleaner cable or commissions a system properly. It gets bigger, because clients stop being burned by sloppy installs and start trusting the trade again. That helps everyone holding a Crestron certification or an HTA badge.
Generous knowledge sharing is also the only honest answer to a trade that has historically kept its standards behind paywalls and dealer-only portals. We pay for our own certifications, write our own manuals, film our own builds, and put it all out where any integrator anywhere can find it. If a shop in Austin or Dallas or London picks up a flush-mount detail from our standards library and uses it on a job, that is a good day at the office.

Why we publish these. Most installations we get called in to fix were done by people without standards. We’re not the only firm doing rigorous work, but the industry is uneven enough that publishing the specs raises the floor for everyone. These are open for any integrator to use, reference, or improve.
