Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is the product of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) process, combining McGuire Air Force Base, Fort Dix Army Base, and Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst into a single unified installation. The result is the only joint base in the Department of Defense to span all three major service branches.
Spanning more than 42,000 acres in Burlington County, New Jersey, JBMDL serves as a critical hub for strategic airlift, power projection, and joint force training. The base supports the 87th Air Base Wing, the 514th Air Mobility Wing, the Army Reserve, and multiple tenant units operating across its three distinct mission areas.
