Luxury Smart Home & AV Integration in the U.S. Virgin Islands

Restrepo Innovations brings Elite Pro Crestron engineering and HTA Luxury standards to St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix in partnership with Island Media Systems, our Caribbean integration partner. the same standard our Greenwich and Alpine clients trust at home, now available for their Caribbean residences.

U.S. Virgin Islands

Three islands. One engineering standard.

The U.S. Virgin Islands span three distinct luxury residential markets within a single jurisdiction. St. Thomas is the commercial and hospitality anchor. home to Charlotte Amalie, Magens Bay, and resort properties that draw international investment. St. John is the exclusive counterpart, where national park protections have kept residential inventory deliberately scarce and values correspondingly elevated. St. Croix is the largest island, with a mix of Danish colonial estate retrofits in Christiansted and Frederiksted alongside new construction on the East End and near Sandy Point. Across all three islands, a common client profile has emerged: Northeast-based owners. from Greenwich, Alpine, the Hamptons, and Westchester. who purchased Caribbean residences and now expect those homes to perform at the same level as their primary properties.

The technical environment across the USVI demands a different kind of engineering discipline. Saltwater corrosion shortens the lifespan of standard outdoor components. Hurricane resilience requires generator integration, surge protection, and redundant connectivity design. Fiber availability varies sharply between St. Thomas and the more remote reaches of St. John and St. Croix, which means satellite and cellular fallback are engineering requirements, not afterthoughts. These are not conditions that most residential AV firms design for. they require an integrator who treats environmental engineering with the same rigor as system design. Restrepo Innovations and Island Media Systems together bring that standard to every USVI project.

Restrepo Innovations serves the U.S. Virgin Islands in partnership with Island Media Systems, the most experienced systems integrator in the USVI. Founded by Rob Morone in 2008, Island Media Systems brings 28-plus years of AV systems integration experience and a deep understanding of the specific logistics, permitting, and environmental conditions of USVI project work. Restrepo provides the design, engineering, Crestron Elite Pro programming, and the HTA Luxury Certified standard that governs every system we deploy. For USVI clients, this means one engineering team across both their Northeast primary residence and their Caribbean second home. unified Crestron programming and a single point of accountability.

Services in U.S. Virgin Islands

What we deliver across the USVI.

From Peter Bay estates on St. John to Ritz-Carlton-area residences on St. Thomas to East End villas on St. Croix, Restrepo and Island Media Systems deliver every layer of the modern luxury home.

Control & Automation

Crestron Home Automation

Full Crestron design and programming from an Elite Pro dealer, engineered for the USVI environment. Caribbean estates benefit from Crestron’s ability to unify lighting, climate, security, AV, generator status, and hurricane shutter control under a single interface. Every system is designed and programmed by Restrepo engineers; Island Media Systems deploys and commissions on site.

Network Infrastructure

Ubiquiti Enterprise Networks

As a Ubiquiti UISP and Pro Partner, Restrepo designs enterprise-grade networks engineered for tropical conditions. USVI properties require sealed outdoor enclosures, UV-rated cabling, and fallback connectivity design that accounts for the gap between fiber service in Charlotte Amalie and the satellite-dependent reality of more remote estate locations. Island Media Systems installs Restrepo-designed networks across St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix.

Audio & Video

Distributed Audio & Home Theater

Multi-room audio from L-Acoustics certified engineers, designed for the indoor-outdoor living patterns of Caribbean estates. USVI residences typically require coverage across covered terraces, pool decks, and open-air great rooms. environments where humidity, UV exposure, and salt air require marine-rated and outdoor-rated components specified by engineers who understand the conditions. Island Media Systems handles local installation and calibration.

Lighting Control

Lutron & Lighting Design

Whole-home lighting control designed and programmed by Restrepo, integrating interior and exterior circuits. USVI estates with extensive outdoor entertaining areas benefit from scene-based lighting that transitions gracefully from afternoon to evening. Corrosion-resistant fixture specifications and UV-stable control components are standard considerations in every USVI lighting design.

Security

Integrated Security & Access Control

Camera systems, access control, and alarm integration unified in the Crestron or dedicated security platform, with remote monitoring capability essential for properties used seasonally. USVI estates require perimeter coverage, gate integration, and connectivity-resilient designs that continue operating through a storm or internet outage. Island Media Systems provides local service response when on-site attention is required.

Resilience & Climate

Generator Integration & Climate Control

Generator integration, automatic transfer switch coordination, and climate zoning tied into the Crestron control layer. Caribbean estates that operate without year-round occupancy require automation that manages climate, monitors systems, and responds to power events without requiring the owner to be on island. This is a core engineering competency of the Restrepo and Island Media Systems partnership.

The Partnership Model

Restrepo Innovations engineering and design, delivered locally in partnership with Island Media Systems, our Caribbean integration partner.

Every USVI project begins in Restrepo’s Franklin Lakes, NJ engineering office. Our team produces a complete system design. device schedules, network diagrams, programming specifications, and commissioning documentation. before a single wire is pulled. This documentation becomes the construction set that Island Media Systems executes on the ground. Island Media Systems, headquartered in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, brings the local knowledge, logistics capability, and on-island service presence that USVI projects require. Together, the partnership delivers what neither firm alone could provide: the engineering depth of a nationally recognized Elite Pro Crestron dealer and the most experienced systems integration firm in the USVI.

For homeowners who maintain residences in both the Northeast and the Caribbean, this partnership offers a structural advantage that no single-market integrator can match. The same engineering team that designed your Greenwich or Alpine primary residence can now design your St. Thomas, St. John, or St. Croix second home to the same Crestron programming standard. Unified control logic, consistent user experience, and a single point of engineering accountability across both properties. that is the unique value the Restrepo and Island Media Systems partnership delivers.

Service Area

Across all three U.S. Virgin Islands.

Through our partnership with Island Media Systems, we serve luxury residential and hospitality clients across St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix, including the British Virgin Islands and peer-network reach to Anguilla and St. Barths.

The Restrepo Process

How we work with USVI clients.

Discovery begins with a consultation at no cost. Restrepo engineers lead this process, gathering information about the property, the scope, the occupancy pattern, and the connectivity environment specific to the island location. For new construction on St. John or St. Croix, early engagement is essential. infrastructure decisions made at rough-in are difficult to reverse. Island Media Systems participates in site assessment from the first visit, bringing island-specific knowledge of what conditions to expect and what local logistics look like.

Installation is managed as a construction project with cross-island coordination built in. Island Media Systems coordinates with your general contractor and the project schedule. Restrepo provides the programming and documentation that Island Media Systems executes on site. Commissioning and client training are conducted jointly. For seasonal-use properties, we also document remote management procedures so that the owner can monitor and adjust systems from the mainland when the property is unoccupied.

After handover, Island Media Systems provides local service response from their St. Thomas base and Restrepo provides remote engineering support for programming changes, system expansions, and technical issues. Most remote programming requests are resolved within the same business day. For USVI clients who also work with Restrepo on their Northeast primary residence, the same engineering team manages both systems. one call, one relationship, consistent service across both homes.
