Ubiquiti vs Ruckus

Ubiquiti vs Ruckus: the right network for a luxury estate

An estate network is the substrate everything else runs on: Crestron, cameras, control, audio, video, voice, and the homeowner’s daily life. Choosing the wrong platform creates problems that surface for years.

Where Ubiquiti Wins

Ubiquiti is the strongest specification for the majority of luxury homes under 12,000 sq ft. The UniFi platform delivers genuinely enterprise-grade Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7 coverage, full multi-gig switching, granular VLAN segmentation, integrated Protect cameras, Talk voice, and Access door control. all on a single self-hosted controller with no recurring license fees.

Restrepo Innovations is a Ubiquiti UISP / Pro Partner. The platform’s combination of price-to-performance, self-management, and unified ecosystem is unmatched at the residential luxury tier. A properly designed UniFi estate network rarely needs a service call.

Where Ruckus Wins

Ruckus (now CommScope) is the right specification when the project demands exotic RF environments. dense glass, marble, mirror, or steel architecture. or when the homeowner expects 200+ concurrent client devices, large outdoor coverage zones over 2 acres, or guest-network compliance modeled on hospitality.

Ruckus access points use beam-forming antennas (BeamFlex+) that adapt to physical obstructions in ways UniFi cannot match. The platform also offers stronger SLA-grade enterprise features. The trade-offs are: higher hardware cost, mandatory licensing, and a narrower dealer pool for service.

Our Default Specification

For homes under 12,000 sq ft on standard residential construction, Ubiquiti UniFi is the default. For estates with multiple structures, marble or all-glass architecture, outdoor-coverage requirements over 2 acres, or compound-style properties with staff networks, Ruckus is on the table for evaluation.

We are platform-agnostic. The right answer is whichever delivers a network the family does not have to think about.

Cost Frame

A complete Ubiquiti UniFi estate network for an 8,000 sq ft home with 6 access points, a 48-port multi-gig switch, gateway, and Protect cameras typically lands between 18K and 32K installed, depending on cable runs and surveillance scope. There are no recurring license fees.

A comparable Ruckus deployment with the same coverage profile typically runs 38K to 65K installed, plus annual licensing in the 2K to 4K range for cloud management and support. The premium is real and is paid for genuine RF performance in difficult environments. not for the brand on the hardware.
