Field Notes
Outdoor AV fails at the rough-in stage more often than at the equipment stage. Speaker placement that works acoustically for the coverage zone, conduit that is waterproofed at every termination, and enclosures with the correct IP rating for the environment are the decisions that determine whether the outdoor system is used or ignored.
The coordination window for outdoor infrastructure is narrow. The landscape contractor is moving through the site quickly, and adding conduit after hardscape is in place means breaking stone or concrete. We wrote this standard to give the GC a single document to hand to all outdoor trades before excavation begins.
