What This Standard Covers
- Underwater speaker and lighting conduit specifications by pool geometry and shell type
- NEC bonding requirements for all metallic AV, automation, and control components
- Equipment room layout: panel sizing, enclosure ratings, and conduit fill by system
- Spa control integration: heater, jets, blower, and lighting wiring to automation system
- Above-deck enclosure IP ratings and mounting requirements for outdoor AV hardware
- Integration with home automation for pool temperature, filtration scheduling, and AV zones
Who It Is For
- Pool and spa contractors coordinating technology rough-in with shell construction
- AV and automation integrators specifying pool zone equipment and wiring
- Architects and landscape architects incorporating pool technology in design documents
- General contractors managing trade coordination across pool, landscape, and AV scopes
When To Use It
- During design development to establish equipment room location and pool technology scope
- Before excavation so equipment room and conduit routing decisions are made before digging
- During shell construction to place all conduit that will be encased in gunite or concrete
- At commissioning to configure pool automation sequences and AV zone integration

Field Notes
Pool and spa technology has a stricter consequence for missed pre-wire than almost any other scope. Conduit in the shell has to be placed before the pool is formed. There is no cost-effective way to add it afterward. This standard defines every pre-wire requirement so nothing is missed.
Bonding is where most pool AV problems start. An integrator adds a metal enclosure to the equipment room and does not bond it correctly. An underwater speaker bracket is not tied into the grid. The NEC requirements are unambiguous, and this standard lists the tie-in points for every component we install.
