The Director Series In-Ceiling Line
For interior applications, Origin’s Director series in-ceiling speakers are specified in spaces where a wide dispersion pattern at controlled volume levels is the primary requirement. kitchen areas, hallways, covered outdoor structures, and secondary listening zones where the audio is ambient rather than critical. The Director D80LCR is a particular workhorse: a three-driver design with a pivoting tweeter that allows installer-side aim adjustment to compensate for off-center mounting positions.
The build quality on Origin’s in-ceiling line is notably above the consumer tier. Aluminum baffle construction, poly/rubber surround woofers that do not degrade in humid environments like a basement or enclosed pool area, and reliable spring-clip mounting that does not loosen over time. Integration with the Broader System
Outdoor audio zones are integrated into the same Crestron-controlled distributed audio system as every interior zone. A client can adjust outdoor volume from a Crestron touchpanel, a physical keypad mounted near the outdoor entertaining area, or the mobile interface. with the same scene logic that manages the interior zones. A “pool party” scene might engage the outdoor zones at a preset level, adjust the color temperature of the Lutron-controlled landscape lighting, and select a specific source, all from a single button press. That integration requires speakers that are properly rated for the environment and sized for the amplifier output the system provides.
