The first is power. Every wireless device. every sensor, every smart switch, every motorized shade controller. either runs on a battery that will eventually die at the worst possible moment, or it still needs a wire run to an electrical outlet or junction box. So the idea that wireless means “no wiring” is only half true at best.
The second is a reliable network. A wireless device is only as stable as the access point it’s connected to and the infrastructure behind it. If the network has dead zones, interference from neighboring systems, or an overloaded channel, the device behaves erratically. If you are in pre-construction or early design, the decision to run structured cabling now costs a fraction of what it will cost to add it later. Wireless gives you flexibility at the device level. Wired infrastructure gives you reliability, longevity, and performance at the system level. A well-designed home needs both, in the right proportion.
