In Plain English: Commercial AV is what makes a boardroom hold a meeting, a divisible event space split cleanly, a corporate floor sound right, and a multi-site rollout actually finish on schedule. Owner’s rep is what protects the owner when the systems integrator is somebody else. We do both.

Two Related Practices

This service line covers two adjacent disciplines. Commercial AV. we design, install, and support audio, video, and control systems for boardrooms, executive suites, conference rooms, divisible event spaces, training rooms, hospitality venues, and corporate campuses. Owner’s rep. we sit on the owner’s side of the table, review another integrator’s scope, drawings, and pricing, attend project meetings, and advocate for the owner through the build. Sometimes a project gets both from us. Sometimes only one.

Where Commercial AV Lives

  • Boardrooms and executive conference rooms. Crestron Flex, Crestron 1 Beyond, dedicated DSP, ceiling microphones, displays sized to the room, one-touch joins for Microsoft Teams and Zoom Rooms.
  • Divisible meeting spaces. Movable wall partitions, room combiners, automatic detection of room state, audio and video that reconfigures with the architecture.
  • Training and event rooms. Audience microphones, presenter tracking, recording and streaming, lecture-capture integrations.
  • Reception and lobby video. Wayfinding, brand video walls, scheduled programmatic content, live feeds.
  • Distributed building audio. Background music, paging, life-safety overrides, zoned amplification.
  • Multi-site rollouts. Standardized room types, central monitoring, predictable handoff between offices, branches, or properties.

Crestron and Q-SYS. Where Each Belongs

For control we lead with Crestron at the Elite Pro level. For commercial audio DSP and large-room signal processing we work in Q-SYS where the project benefits from Q-SYS’s scalability, clean network audio backbone, and integrated control surface. Boardrooms and executive spaces with serious audio needs almost always benefit from Q-SYS underneath; smaller rooms can run on simpler DSP. We pick the right tool for the project and document why.

Owner’s Representation

Sometimes the most valuable thing we can do for a commercial owner is sit on the owner’s side of the table during a build. That includes:

  • Scope review. Reading the integrator’s scope of work, equipment list, and drawings. and translating them into plain English. Identifying gaps, scope creep risks, and points of failure before the contract gets signed.
  • Bid leveling. Comparing bids from multiple integrators on a like-for-like basis. Identifying where one is sandbagging and another is over-promising.
  • Project meetings. Sitting in on coordination meetings, asking the questions that protect the owner, holding the integrator accountable to the schedule.
  • Field walks. Inspecting rough-in, finish, and commissioning. Catching the issues that become punch list items if they are not caught at the right phase.
  • Post-occupancy support. Standing behind the owner after handoff. reviewing service contracts, evaluating change orders, and being available when the system needs an outside read.

Hospitality and Members’ Clubs

A meaningful portion of our commercial work happens in hospitality. restaurants, boutique hotels, country clubs, golf clubs, members’ clubs, and private event venues. Hospitality AV has its own demands: zoned music with day-part programming, paging that does not break the dining-room mood, event spaces that flex between a wedding reception and a Tuesday morning training, and back-of-house systems that nobody sees but everybody depends on. We have built it.

Multi-Site Rollouts

For organizations with multiple offices, branches, or properties we standardize a small set of room types, document them as templates, and roll them out site-by-site with predictable schedule and scope. Centralized monitoring lets us watch every room from one dashboard. The 100th room takes the same time as the 10th. that is the whole point of standardizing.

Service Area

Commercial AV and owner’s rep are not bound to the residential service footprint. We work primarily across NJ, NY, and CT, but for multi-site commercial work we travel to wherever the project is. If you have an office in Boston, Chicago, or Miami that needs to match what we are doing in New York, we have done that.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between commercial AV and home automation?

The systems share a lot of underlying technology. Crestron, network infrastructure, video distribution. but the use cases are different. Commercial AV is built for meetings, presentations, training, paging, and multi-site standardization. Home automation is built for lighting, theater, climate, and lifestyle. Many of the same tools, used very differently.

Do you do owner's rep on projects where another integrator is doing the install?

Yes. That is part of what makes owner's rep valuable. we are not the integrator on the build, we are advocating for the owner against whoever is. We will not take a contingency tied to the integrator's success, and we will document where we disagree with their scope. The point is independent advice.

What about Microsoft Teams Rooms and Zoom Rooms?

Standard. We design and deploy Teams Rooms (MTR) and Zoom Rooms on Crestron Flex, Logitech Tap, Poly, and Neat hardware. Choice depends on the room, the IT environment, and the standard the company is rolling out. We will pick the right one and stand behind it.

Can you take over an existing commercial AV system?

Often. The walkthrough is the right starting point. we look at the existing programming, the rack, the network, and the user experience and tell you what is fixable, what is past end-of-life, and what would need to change. Sometimes a re-program solves the perceived problems; sometimes the underlying hardware is wrong.

Do you work outside of NJ, NY, and CT for commercial?

For multi-site commercial rollouts, yes. We travel for boardroom and executive-suite projects where a client wants the same standard delivered across multiple geographies. Single-site commercial outside our home region is a case-by-case conversation.

What credentials are relevant for commercial AV?

Elite Pro Crestron Dealer is the primary credential we lean on for commercial control. OSHA Certified is required for many corporate and construction environments. Q-SYS experience is delivered by working programmers and engineers; we hold and stand behind only the four credentials Restrepo claims. Elite Pro Crestron Dealer, HTA Luxury Certified, OSHA Certified, and Ubiquiti UISP Pro Partner.
