How a project runs
Rye projects follow the same discipline we apply across our shoreline work in Greenwich, CT and throughout NJ, NY, and CT. The waterfront environment is the constant. The architecture changes.
New construction and gut renovation: We enter at schematic design alongside the architect and general contractor. Conduit layout, acoustic wall assembly details, equipment room sizing, and HVAC return-air placement are established in drawings, not in the field. This is the phase where room-within-room isolation is designed in, not bolted on. Rye’s larger basement footprints often allow true floating-floor construction that smaller markets cannot accommodate.
Existing homes: We work within the structure as it stands. Acoustic treatment, speaker placement, and screen geometry are optimized for the room dimensions. We route low-voltage through existing pathways where possible and flag conditions that require remediation before equipment goes in.
Rough-in: Conduit, back-boxes, in-wall speaker framing, and equipment room prep happen before drywall. We coordinate directly with the GC on sequence and inspection requirements.
Trim and commissioning: After drywall and paint, we install devices, terminate connections, and load programming. Calibration follows: acoustic measurement, Trinnov correction, display calibration to D65, and system-level testing. The client receives a walk-through before we close the project.

Our approach: conditioned rack enclosures with positive-pressure filtered air, corrosion-resistant hardware at all terminal points, sealed low-voltage penetrations on exterior walls, and periodic maintenance that includes contact cleaning and visual inspection. Lighting control systems and network infrastructure in coastal properties receive the same attention.
For outdoor zones in boathouses, pool cabanas, and open terraces, we specify marine-rated loudspeakers and weatherized displays rated for direct salt-air exposure. Sonance Marine and comparable enclosures are specified based on proximity to the water and degree of weather exposure. A pool house fifty feet from the Sound requires different hardware than a terrace at the top of a bluff.
Humidity control inside the theater room itself is a separate consideration. A sealed acoustic room with significant electronics load requires HVAC designed to maintain both temperature and relative humidity within operating tolerances.
