Most Crestron Home dealers are configurators. They work inside the Crestron Home Setup app, assign rooms, load approved Extensions from the store, and ship the job. That covers a lot of ground. What it does not cover is every device your home has, every integration you need, or the custom behavior a one-of-a-kind system requires. Restrepo writes code for Crestron Home -- custom SIMPL# modules, custom Extensions, and proprietary bridge software that surfaces devices Crestron has never heard of in a UI that looks native.
For luxury homeowners in NJ, NY, and CT planning a Crestron Home build, Restrepo Innovations is the Elite Pro Crestron Dealer that writes its own Home Extensions and runs a local Home Assistant bridge -- so the system is not limited to what comes in the Crestron Home box.
Most Crestron Home dealers are configurators. We are programmers.
Crestron Home is a no-programming platform by design. Dealers configure it through a cloud-based tool and load Extensions from a curated store. Once you reach the edge of what the platform natively supports, a configurator stops. They submit a feature request or tell the client it cannot be done.
We do not stop there. We hold an Elite Pro Crestron Dealer designation -- the top residential tier Crestron awards. Beyond that, we have a programming team that builds directly on the platform using SIMPL Windows and SIMPL#. We write Extensions that run on the Crestron Home processor. We write bridge modules in SIMPL# that connect external systems at the firmware level. When something does not exist in the Extensions store, we build it.

The local Home Assistant bridge: how we bring any device into Crestron Home
Home Assistant is an open-source platform that supports tens of thousands of devices across every major protocol. We deploy a dedicated local Intel NUC in your equipment rack running Home Assistant -- isolated from your general home network, no cloud dependency. We wrote a custom SIMPL#/SIMPL Windows module that bridges that appliance to the Crestron Home processor. The bridge is proprietary to Restrepo. It runs locally and surfaces devices in the Crestron Home UI as if they were native integrations.
Device categories now reachable through the bridge that fall outside the standard Crestron Home Extensions store:
- Energy systems -- Tesla Powerwall and whole-home energy monitors
- Smart thermostats -- ecobee and systems with deep scheduling APIs
- Matter-over-Thread devices -- any certified Matter device added after commissioning
- Zigbee and Z-Wave sensors -- door contacts, occupancy sensors, leak detectors
- Pool and spa controllers -- temperature, pump, and chemistry monitoring
- Cloud-API appliances -- any device with a Home Assistant integration, added without a service call
The Crestron Home app remains the single control surface. No secondary apps.
The 2x2 video wall Extension we built ourselves
One project required a four-display video wall in the main media room. Each display shows an independent source by default. The homeowner wanted to collapse all four panels into a unified 2x2 canvas when watching a film. The Crestron Home Extensions store had nothing for this. We built it.
The Extension watches the routing matrix in real time. The moment all four displays are switched to the same source, it detects that condition and collapses the panels into a unified 2x2 canvas. Bezels align. The source fills the full array. When the sources diverge again, it returns each display to independent mode. No homeowner button press. No service call. The same Extension applies to boardroom and executive suite installs running Crestron Home.
When something breaks, we fix it ourselves
A configurator-built system has a long escalation chain: dealer to Crestron tier-1, tier-1 to tier-2, tier-2 to the third-party Extension developer -- who responds on their own schedule. That can take days or weeks.
Our chain is shorter: homeowner contacts Restrepo, Restrepo opens the code and fixes it. We own the source for every module and Extension we deploy. Same-day turnaround is the standard. We are not waiting for anyone else to diagnose our code.
What we are and what we are not
We are an Elite Pro Crestron Dealer -- the highest residential dealer tier Crestron awards. We are not Crestron Service Provider cloud-certified. The CSP program is a separate certification for cloud-managed deployments. We do not hold it and do not manage systems through Crestron's cloud backend.
Our systems run locally. The Home Assistant bridge lives on a rack appliance in your home. Custom Extensions live on Restrepo's build machine and on your processor. We support them directly. If a project requires CSP cloud management, we say so upfront.
FAQ
Can I add devices later that are not in the Crestron Home Extensions store?
Yes. Our Home Assistant bridge handles devices outside the Extensions catalog. If Home Assistant supports it, we route it through the bridge and surface it in the Crestron Home UI. We add the device on the Home Assistant side and push an updated bridge module to the processor.
Where does the Home Assistant server live?
We install a dedicated local Intel NUC in your equipment rack. It runs Home Assistant on its own hardware, isolated from your general home network -- not a cloud service. It communicates with the Crestron processor over your internal network through our SIMPL# bridge module.
What happens if the custom Extension breaks?
We open our source code and fix it. We own the codebase for every Extension and SIMPL# module we deploy. No third-party ticket queue. If something breaks, we diagnose it the same day and ship a corrected build directly to the processor.
Do other Crestron dealers have this bridge?
Not this one. Our SIMPL#/SIMPL Windows bridge is proprietary to Restrepo. We wrote it, we maintain it, and we do not distribute it. Some dealers use cloud-based workarounds or third-party middleware -- those depend on external services staying online. Our bridge runs entirely in the rack.
Does this work for commercial Crestron Home installs?
Crestron Home is a residential platform. For full commercial environments, we use SIMPL-based or .AV Framework systems. The 2x2 video wall Extension applies to boardrooms running Crestron Home -- the four-panel collapse logic is the same.
How much extra does this cost?
The bridge adds hardware, rack installation, and programming time -- no recurring subscription. Custom Extensions are in our build scope and covered under standard care plans. Call 201.405.2022 or email office@restrepoinnovations.com for an estimate.
What happens if I switch integrators later?
The Crestron Home configuration is portable. Our SIMPL# bridge and custom Extensions are proprietary to Restrepo. A new integrator would replace that functionality or continue with our care plan. We are transparent about this upfront.
